It's tough for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The top summits have already been conquered.

We're talking about the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and once went nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are the only things left for a team that has accomplished all there is.

That it took up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their hitters to hold a record if never given the possibility.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we are confident we can achieve it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this World Cup need to hear.

During the last week a sense they will win from any position has grown stronger - this triumph succeeding win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.
